Eagle Mountain Smith Ranch Park Expansion

Eagle Mountain Smith Ranch Park is a revitalization effort that seeks to improve and expand upon its existing park. It is expected park construction will commence in the summer of 2022 and once complete, will provide a variety of native and manicured landscapes to support active and passive uses, providing space for both people and wildlife. This is vital as Eagle Mountain’s access to Open space is one of the City’s defining characteristics and is an important component to this re-conceived design. Unique play elements such as a ninja warrior course, skate park, themed bird play structure and nature play create a dynamic experience for visitors of all ages. Additionally, the use of low maintenance and native plants make it a sustainable landscape design, staying true to Eagle Mountain’s rural character and supporting wildlife in a natural wash found within the park. Design Challenge
BALANCE THE NEED FOR A NATURAL LANDSCAPE AS HABITAT WITH THE COMMUNITY’S DESIRE FOR UNIQUE PLAY OPPORTUNITIES
A challenge with this park design was to create ways for visitors to enjoy both active play elements as well as experiencing nature. Through a thoughtful approach to the planting palette, the natural areas of the park blend with its surrounding context. The active play within the park needed to differentiate itself from other Eagle Mountain Parks, while maintaining and adding to the play fields available on site.
